Organisation-Wide Role-Based Access Control

A SailPoint IdentityIQ implementation aligning access rights with business and IT roles across multiple business units.

Dec 2023 – Sep 2024

I contributed to implementing Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) by utilizing SailPoint IdentityIQ across multiple business units at Univé Insurance, introducing a structured model with both business and IT roles. By aligning access rights with job functions, we improved role clarity and minimized excessive permissions. This approach streamlined access provisioning to ensure that employees received the right access automatically upon joining and had it revoked upon leaving the organisation. Role switching was also significantly enhanced, allowing employees to transition between roles efficiently without manual intervention.

The automation of role assignments and provisioning not only strengthened security but also reduced the workload on individual teams and decreased service desk tickets. With a clearer and more standardized role structure, access reviews became more efficient, enabling managers to make informed decisions about user access. This implementation improved compliance with IAM policies while increasing operational efficiency, reinforcing Univé’s security posture and control compliance across multiple business units.
