Building a Sustainable Company-Wide Wi-Fi Solution at VDS
A company-wide Wi-Fi design with guest access, VLAN support, recycled hardware, and pfSense at its core.
Sep 2016 – Dec 2016
This project originated from the growing need at Van der Sluis Technische Bedrijven (VDS) to accommodate an increasing number of on-site customers. To enhance customer experience, the idea of providing a public Wi-Fi network emerged. I initiated this project by researching potential solutions and evaluating suitable access points.
As the project progressed, the scope expanded to include support for the company’s existing employee network. The final implementation delivered a comprehensive company-wide Wi-Fi solution, built using sustainable recycled hardware and a pfSense firewall as its core. The system includes multiple access points with VLAN support, as well as a voucher-based login system for guests, managed through a user-friendly captive portal.
